The future of the artist-run scene (SE/CH) / 19 interviews with artists and curators
At Supermarket Art Fair 2019 the artist-run initiative kunsthallekleinbasel presents the group exhibition RE:ACT with works by five artists and a short presentation of two associated initiatives. The exhibition includes paintings by the Hungarian artist Levente Fazekas. An interactive installation by the Basel based artist Mirjam Spoolder invites visitors to linger. The artist and art historian Ana Vujić presents ink drawings and represents the art space VOLTAGE and VOLTAGE PRESS from Basel. Fabian Frei and Silja Zimmermann intervene throughout the fair and in public space. Beside that they represent the Swiss art festival GUCK MAL GÜNTHER KUNST, which takes place annually in Lenzburg. The show is curated by Jasmin Glaab and Roy Andres Hofer.

Levente Fazekas (HU) | visual artist, painter, graphic artist

Fazekas Levente (*1985) is a Hungarian painter and graphic artist. His basic eldis contemporary painting in which he issearching for new ways of visual expression and the purpose(s) of painting in the 21st century. He has his own method ofwork where he mixes intuitive inspirations, instinctivity and improvisation along withfocused consciousness. As he says: „Theeyes see the objective reality, your brain processes it, your stomach digests it then your hand lets out the mixture. That’s the way to nd your subjective reality.”

Fabian Frei (CH) | artist, graphic designer, art historian, project manager

Fabian Frei (*1989) is an artist, graphic designer, art historian and project manager based in Basel. He gained his Master in Art History and Media Studies at the University of Basel in 2015. He worked for institutions such as Kunstmuseum Basel, Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel, KunstraumBaden or Sapferhaus Lenzburg.

Mirjam Spoolder (CH) | visual artist, performer, designer, teacher

Mirjam Spoolder (*1974 in Nieuw-Heeten, NL) lives and works since 2007 as an artist in Basel, Switserland. Spoolder studied sculpture at the Academy for Art and Design AKI/ARTEZ in Enschede, and Stage-Management at Rotterdam Centre for Theatre RCTH in Rotterdam, both in the Netherlands. At the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW/HGK in Basel, she earned her Master in Fine Arts with the emphasis in Performance Art. In 2014 she was awarded for a grand to spent six months in India by Atelier Mondial / Pro Helvetia. Since 2016 she works as a teacher Textile Design at La HEAR, Haute École des Arts du Rhin in Mulhouse, France.

Ana Vujić (CH) | visual artist, art historian, teacher, curator

Ana Vujić (*1981 in Pozarevac, SRB) lives and works as a freelance artist and art critic in Basel (CH). She studied art history in Basel and works as a teacher in this eld (main focus: Urban Art). Since 20017 she organizes exhibitions at the artist run space Voltage. Since 2011 she works as a freelance artist and exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad.

Silja Zimmermann (CH) | visual artist, performer, art educator, curator

Silja Zimmermann (*1982 in Wettingen, CH) lives and works in Baden AG as an artist and art educator. She studied at the Schule für Gestaltung Basel (2003-2004), then at the ZHdK Bachelor of Arts in Art Education (2005-2008) and Master of Arts in Art Education (2008-2010). She is part of the organisation and curation of interdisciplin-ary art projects “Guck mal Günther, Kunst”, “Kunststätte” in Lenzburg, “Baustück” in Baden and “BlauBlau” in Zürich.
