For the artist and musician Silvio Grimm visual vocabulary and music are strongly connected. In the exhibition „The Grimm Experience“, he shows drawings, paintings and objects. In these works moods, dialogues, situations, feelings, song texts and sequences will merge in confuse, multiple layers of colour, varnish and collage elements come together. „I am a person who units differences and who can bring together contrasting people.“, says Grimm and invites visitors to experience his work while listening to Rock 'n' Roll and having a glass of Whisky.

BYE, BYE DISNEYLAND, I NEED SOME FUCKING ROCK`N`ROLL
Aber weißt Du was? Das macht die Besten aus!"

BYE, BYE DISNEYLAND, I NEED SOME FUCKING ROCK`N`ROLL

The pictures of Silvio Grimm (*1984) are situated at the boundaries of good taste. They are the point of intersection between the sacred world of children stories, the seductions by consumer goods and other absurdities of daily live. In the pictorial work "Alice in Wonderbar" the blonde innocent girl left her marvelous dreamworld and is now sitting at a bar, on which a revolver and several whiskey bottles are placed upon. The gleaming eyes and the naive smile of the animation figure, which is cut out from a book, excel from the abstract background. Traces of brown coloured lacquer hold together the picturesque brushstrokes and the layering collage of little paper shreds to a colourful ensemble on the chipboard. "I DON'T WANT TO LIVE FOR EVER" or "GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN" seems to be the new live motto of Alice.
Grimm describes with his mixed technique of collage and painting partially ironical, partially disturbing the varying states of his favoured figures from comics and childrenbooks by taking them into the comparable grotesque errors of our time or the dirty underground world of rock'n roll. The artist whose roots are founded in drawing comic strips is also playing music in the bands KLANGKLINIK, MISSLING. Art shall not have any divisional boundaries.
Silvio Grimm shows in the many-faceted, very first painting exhibition in Kunsthalle Kleinbasel that in every bizarre dialog lies snug a poetical moment.
Alice: "Do you think that I lost my mind?"
Father: "Yes, I am afraid, but I guess you went really nuts, you are crackers, you are out of your senses.
But you now what? That's what the best are!"
